Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-November 22, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, November 22, 2019

Dear HCA-OLP Families,

As we head into the week of Thanksgiving, I would like to express how thankful I am for all of the people in the HCA community. I am thankful for the hard work of our teachers, who do their best to meet the different needs of all of their students. I am thankful for the parents, who invite us to be partners in helping their children grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially. And I am thankful for the students themselves who brighten each day with their enthusiasm and their kindness for one another.

Due to the short week, I will not write a newsletter next week. I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Have a great weekend, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Toy Drive

HCA Student Council is providing a wonderful opportunity to help others for the Christmas season. We are hosting a toy drive to benefit the Wellston Center for St. Augustine Parish. New toys will be collected at each campus for the center for families in need of help this year. The families then go to the center and purchase the gifts for 10% of the real cost to give parents the opportunity to give their children toys for Christmas. Imagine the joy on the faces of kids as they receive a gift provided by your family! (The only thing they ask is for no gifts for children under three, and they always need more gifts for older children.) Please consider this as a family project to serve others during the season of giving. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Please bring all toys by December 3rd.

Dressing for our Advent Prayer Services

To celebrate Advent, we will have a Living Advent Wreath prayer service each Monday morning instead of our usual morning prayer. Students are asked to wear a green shirt with their uniform bottoms that day.

Book Fair Success

Thank you to all of you who shopped at and volunteered to help out with our recent Scholastic book fair, and a special thank you to Collette Koscielski, who organized the book fair. It was a huge success, earning over $2,000 in Scholastic Dollars for our school.

Santa’s Workshop

Santa's Workshop, sponsored by the Holy Cross Academy Parents Association, is a fun way for our children to get into the spirit of giving. A "store" will be set up in the gym at both St. Michael's and Our Lady of Providence campuses on Monday, December 9. A variety of gifts appropriate for parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and even pets will be available for purchase.

In order to make this a successful event, volunteers are needed at both K-5 campuses. If you are able to spare some time to help, please click the link below to navigate to the volunteer sign up page. Be sure to scroll down through the page to see all of the available slots. This link is for both OLP and SMA volunteer sign up, so please make sure you are signing up for the campus, role, and time slot you wish to volunteer. Please be sure to enter your email address so that you will automatically receive a reminder a couple of days before you are scheduled to help.

HCPA Kris Kringle Gift Exchange

Please see this flyer for information about the Kris Kringle family gift exchange that is being organized by the HCPA. If you would like to participate, registrations are due to any HCA campus by next Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Cold and Flu Season

Cold and flu season has arrived in the St. Louis area, and HCA-OLP is no exception. At school, we clean classroom surfaces regularly and remind the students to practice good hand washing and cover their coughs and sneezes. We also need parents’ help to reduce the spread of illness. It is important to keep your child home from school if there is a fever present or if your child shows other symptoms of illness. Students must have had no vomiting and be fever-free without the aid of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. Thanks for your help in keeping everyone as healthy as possible.

December Lunch Orders

Today is the last day to order lunch for December. After you place your order, please send in a check for the amount you owe. Order now so you don’t forget!
