Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-September 13, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, September 13, 2019

Dear HCA-OLP Families,

Wow, we had a wonderful week of school this week, especially our All-Academy Mass and Retreat at Seven Holy Founders! I’m glad some of you were able to join us for mass. It is always a moving experience when the whole school is gathered together in prayer. Today was also a great opportunity for the students to spend some time and do some faith-based activities and service with students from other campuses and other grade levels. Days like this make me reflect on how blessed we are to be part of a faith-filled Catholic school community.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I hope you have an enjoyable weekend with your families!

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Standardized Testing

Students grades 1 and up will be taking the CogAT test, and students grades 2 and up will be taking the complete/composite IOWA test. These tests inform us about a students’ academic abilities and help us to plan classroom learning experiences.

  • What can happen at home to help students do their best?

    • A good night’s sleep

    • A good breakfast

    • Send a healthy snack. (Studies show sugary snacks lead to poor test performance.)

    • Come to school on time. (Students will not be allowed to enter the classroom if they arrive during the middle of a test session.)

STUCO Representative Elections

Congratulations to Max Flores and Stella Schulte! They will be the OLP representatives for the HCA Student Council.

Gym Uniform Change

Students of all elementary grades will not need to bring a regular uniform to change into on gym days. They will now be allowed to wear their gym uniforms all day long. This will help them make more productive use of their time during the school day.

October Lunch Ordering Open

October lunch orders are available online now. The last day to order October lunches is Sept. 20. Order now so you don’t forget! Also remember that a milk is included in each regular lunch order, and a juice is included in a Friday pizza lunch order.

Blue and Gold Rush

The Blue and Gold Rush raffle ticket sale is now live. This is an important fundraiser for our school. We are asking each family to sell four $25 raffle tickets. There will be prizes for the top-selling families as well as a big special surprise if 90% of HCA families meet this goal.

You should already have received a link that you can use for selling tickets. Ticket sales are open until midnight on Sept. 19, and the winners will be announced on Sept. 20. The grand prize is $2,500, and there will be a total of ten winners. If you have questions about this raffle sale, please contact Lauren Bryant, or (314)475-3436.
