Mrs. Dolan's Weekly Message-March 13, 2020

Submitted to All Campuses on Thursday, March 12, 2020

Dear Holy Cross Families, March 12, 2020

We have had a busy week in middle school. We started Monday morning with a Faith Formation Day on Stewardship. After Fr. Mike’s prayer, the students viewed a PowerPoint “What is Stewardship”? Because God has blessed all of us with many gifts and talents, our follow up activity was for the students to take a Spiritual Gifts Inventory. After answering forty-five questions each child was given an insight to their individual sense of spiritual gift. The students were divided into groups based on the body part that represented their gift. For example, one group was the ears, because they are good listeners. Another group was the hands because they are hard workers who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Ask you child which group best symbolized their gift. They concluded the day with performing an original group skit persuading us to be good stewards. Thank you to Mrs. Cheak and Mr. Sullentrup for planning and organizing our day and to the School Ambassadors for leading our groups.

The Bellarmine Speech Meet was a big success with many compliments from the Bellarmine Board on our organization and the help of our students. Representing Holy Cross Academy were Emmett Banks, Maggie Powers, Madhavan Anbukumar, Sophia Stage, and congratulations to Josie Manning, Madelynn Stockell, Maggie Kellogg and Lucy Banks for receiving gold ribbons which is a perfect score!

This week the students from OLP have been shadowing the 6th grade. SMA will be shadowing March 31 and April 1.

After a cross disciplinary study of the Holocaust, the eighth grade students along with Mr. Ewing and Ms. Bourne visited the Holocaust Museum. The students had a guided tour of the exhibits and a presentation from a Holocaust survivor who fled from Germany with his family in 1940. The Museum will be closing for the next two years for renovation making a presentation from an actual survivor even more special.
