Submitted to All Campuses on Thursday, March 12, 2020

Holy Cross Academy - St. John Paul II

Bulletin for March 15 - 28, 2020

We hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable spring break! We look forward to welcoming you back on Monday, March 23.

I did not include contingency plans related to COVID-19 in this newsletter, but for that information, please refer to emails sent out earlier this week. If for some reason you did not get these emails, the information is also available on A2Z.

Reminder: We have an early dismissal on Friday, March 27, to provide time for faculty meetings. Dismissal is at noon. ASP is available on this day, but to ensure adequate staffing levels, students must be pre-registered for ASP on this day.

The April lunch menu is available for pre-ordering. Please take a moment to order before Spring Break because the menu will lock at midnight on Monday, March 23, which is the Monday we return from break.

Don't forget the JP2 fish fry every Friday during Lent. The doors open at 4:30 pm. I hope you and your family will be able to enjoy a delicious meal and support the parish.

Change for Change: During Lent, bags will be given to every child on the three elementary campuses to collect money to donate to Melissa's Hope Orphanage in Haiti and the Sisters of Notre Dame missions in Ghana. The donations will be split between the two. Collections will continue until April 7. Your child should have brought home the donation bag at the end of last week.

The Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation offers scholarships to families with students in area Catholic schools. There are some need-based scholarships and some that are not need-based, so all families are encouraged to apply. The application period will begin January 27 at 8:00 am, and some scholarships are first come - first served, so please apply early. Go to ttef-stl.org to apply. This online system will automatically sort your application to the scholarship you would qualify for based on your income level. Here are instructions for how families who do not currently have a scholarship can apply. Families who are renewing a scholarship should reuse the same login information. The deadline for families renewing a scholarship is February 28. More information is available at http://www.ttef-stl.org/info-for-parents/.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis has developed a new system for safe environment compliance called Prevent and Protect STL. All volunteers in the Archdiocese are required to register in the new system before December 31, 2020. This includes new volunteers and those who are currently in service. For those who have already attended a Protecting God’s Children workshop, your previous training date will transfer to this new system. In addition to attending a live Protecting God’s Children workshop, all clergy, volunteers, and employees will register for an updated background screening, view two new online training modules on abuse reporting and the Code of Ethical Conduct, and agree to the updated Code of Ethical Conduct. Please go to www.preventandprotectstl.org to register. To help you through this process, here is a document with helpful Instructions for Registering as an HCA Volunteer.

Hockey Fans: Join the HCA community at the Blues Watch Party on Tuesday, March 24, at the Enterprise Center. The cost is $10 per person with $5 going to support the HCA Art program. More details will be emailed to you soon.
