Dr. Densberger's Weekly Message-January 24, 2020

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, January 24, 2020

Holy Cross Academy - St. John Paul II

Bulletin for the Week of January 26, 2020 - Catholic Schools Week

Second quarter report cards will go live on Friday, January 24. If you have questions or concerns about your child's grades, please contact the teacher directly or contact me.

Open House is Sunday, January 26, at all HCA campuses: JP2 - Early Childhood, SMA - K, 1st & 2nd, OLP - 3rd, 4th & 5th and ANN - 6th, 7th & 8th. All campuses will be open from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is an opportunity for the families of new students to visit HCA and for current families to visit the campuses their children will be attending in 2020-21.

Catholic Schools Week is January 26-31. To celebrate Catholic Schools Week with our parish families, students and their families are invited to assist with the ministries at Mass on January 25 and 26. Students who volunteer and all students who attend mass in their HCA uniform will get a DOT card.

Students can serve as greeters, readers, carrying the offertory procession, passing the collection baskets, and distributing bulletins. If your child would like to serve, but you're not sure what would be the best fit, please contact your parish volunteer coordinator and we'll find something for everyone.

These special liturgies offer a great opportunity for our fellow parishioners to see HCA families and build a stronger relationship between the parishes and the school. It also gives the students a chance to take on leadership roles they typically see fulfilled by adults and feel more included in the Mass.

Students who volunteer will be asked to arrive at Mass 30 minutes early to practice.

Please see the Signup Genius link below to see the various times and roles needed.

We need your help! Thursday of Catholic Schools Week, January 30, is Teacher Appreciation Day. As part of the day, the Holy Cross Parents Association is providing lunch for the teachers, both K-5th and PreK. Since they will be enjoying lunch together, we need parent volunteers who will supervise their students at that time. If you can assist us with this, please use this link to sign-up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080c45acaf23a2fd0-teacher. Also, please consider joining us for Sports Trivia on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00.

Mass this week is being planned by the 5th graders. Please know that you are always welcome to join us for Mass on Thursday mornings at 8:00.

February lunches are available for pre-ordering until January 24. After you order, please send your lunch money to the office. FYI: During lent, we will only serve cheese pizza on Fridays.

The Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation offers scholarships to families with students in area Catholic schools. There are some need-based scholarships and some that are not need-based, so all families are encouraged to apply. The application period will begin January 27 at 8:00 am, and some scholarships are first come - first served, so please apply early. Go to ttef-stl.org to apply. This online system will automatically sort your application to the scholarship you would qualify for based on your income level. Here are instructions for how families who do not currently have a scholarship can apply. Families who are renewing a scholarship should reuse the same login information. The deadline for families renewing a scholarship is February 28. More information is available at http://www.ttef-stl.org/info-for-parents/.

Congratulations to the following students who got “Shout Outs” this week: Annabelle Belosi (K), Joe Daniels (K), Yana Mistry (K), Blake Twillman (K), Maggie Eckert (1st), Maddie Ehnert (1st) and Drew McDaniel (1st). Photo below:
