Mrs. Folk's Weekly Message-November 8, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, November 08, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Academy Families,

For being a short week, we really had a lot going on at our campus: Vocation day on Monday, picture retake day, Mass led by 2nd Grade, Bookfair, 4th Grade field trip to Cahokia Mounds, and Parent/Teacher Conferences.

On Monday, Sr. Karolyn, from the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George, came to talk with each class about our personal connection with Jesus our Savior. She talked about prayer, ways we all can get closer to Jesus, sang songs with the children, and discussed the different vocations we are all called for our faith. She talked about the differences of priests, sisters, married, and single vocations. Sr. Karolyn really connected to the children, especially with her knowledge of Disney songs and her ukelele. Thanks to Fr. Grosch for arranging Sr. Karolyn’s visit to our campus.

The 4th grade took a field trip to Cahokia Mounds to learn more about the Native American culture and heritage from our area in connection with what they are learning in class. The experience is a great opportunity to expand on learning that is not just in the classroom.

I also wanted to thank all of the parents signing up for your child’s conference with their teachers. I know how hard it is to take time from work and busy schedules. It really shows the children we are all working together in the formation of their faith, academics, and personal growth. Thanks again for the partnership we have with home and school.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Bookfair!!!! I hope some were able to check some gifts off of your Christmas list. All of the proceeds from the Fair goes to our campus for new books for the library and classrooms.

I want to give a special Thanks to Kenda Baccott for Chairing the Bookfair this year for the SMA campus!!! Also, thanks to all her parent volunteers that helped each day from setup, to helping write children wishlists, sales, and take down.

Enjoy your extra long weekend!!!

I feel blessed to be part of this community.

God Bless!
