Holy Cross Academy - St. John Paul II

Bulletin for the Week of October 27, 2019

In order for grades and comments to be entered, the A2Zware Gradebook will be turned off for parent viewing until Friday, November 1, at 3:30 p.m. The report cards will go live on Friday, November 1, at 3:30 p.m.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, November 7, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Conferences are all scheduled online. To schedule conferences go to https://ptcfast.com/schools/Holy_Cross_Academy_1 or Schedule Parent-Teacher Conferences - Fall 2019 . Conference times are scheduled on a first come-first served basis. You can begin scheduling conferences at this time.

Mass this week will take place on Friday, November 1, the Feast of All Saints at 2:00 pm. It will be prepared by the third grade, who will be presenting the saints that they have been researching as part of the liturgy. Please feel free to join us for Mass on Friday afternoon. We will not have Mass on Thursday morning of this week.

This week's coffee with the principal is for the parents of fourth and fifth graders. It will take place on Tuesday morning, October 29, at 7:30 am in the teachers' lounge.

Happy Halloween! On Thursday, October 31, we will celebrate with Halloween parties in each classroom. Thanks in advance to the parents who are helping us organize activities for the parties. This day will be a dress down day for all students - no costumes please.

The last day for turning in cans for the canned food drive is this Thursday, Halloween! Our goal is to bring in enough canned goods that when stacked they will completely cover the picture of St. John Paul II in the lobby. Please send food donations to school with your son or daughter.

On Saturday, November 16, we will celebrate the Holy Cross Academy Legacy Gala and Auction. Proceeds are used to invest in the future of Holy Cross Academy by enhancing the learning environment and giving our students the best resources available in the ever-changing world of modern education. We are asking our HCA community to come together in support of the 2019 Auction. There are so many ways in which you can help and all of us here at HCA have something special to give. We offer tax-deductible sponsorship opportunities and we are always looking for donated items for our Live and Silent Auctions. Please feel free to email legacygala@hca-stl.org or call Chasley Bradbury-Flores at 314.249.1307 with any questions.

Uniform reminder: Friday November 1, is the first day for winter uniform rules. Beginning November 1, shorts cannot be worn until after spring break.

It's almost time for the HCA-JP2 Fall Book Fair! We're hoping you're interested in helping again, or joining us for the first time. Help us add to our guided reading materials and much needed titles for our library and classrooms (preschool included). Please click on the Scholastic link to register for your preferred time: https://volunteer.scholastic.com/#/experience/signup/BBE1ummNM or contact Meghan Carr at meghanxcarr@gmail.com or 314-550-9406.

Reminder to second grade parents: The second meeting for the parents of second graders celebrating First Reconciliation will be held on Monday, November 4, at 6:30 pm in the JP2 cafeteria.

It’s nearly that time of year again, and we need your help! On Monday, December 9, the children at Holy Cross Academy - St. John Paul II campus will have an opportunity to “shop” for Christmas gifts for a parent/guardian/adult at a cost of $1 per item. Each student may purchase up to four items. We are looking for donations of new or gently used items for the children to buy. Items that are usually popular are cups/mugs, candles, jewelry, scarves, gloves, note cards, picture frames, and anything Christmas themed. We are always a little short on items that would be appropriate for dads/men, so those are at the top of our list for donation requests this year. We also need gift bags, tissue paper, gift tags and tape for the children to wrap up their treasures. Please keep in mind that all items will be $1 per item, no matter the size, shape, or actual value. They will be in little hands for the entire day and will also need to make it home, so something that is very fragile may not be the best idea. Please send these items to school via your child any time between now and December 1. If it is easier for you, you can give your donations to me at pick up each day. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time. Thank you in advance for making this day a great success and for helping the children experience a little bit Christmas magic.

Merry Christmas to all!

Karen Stolarski
