Mrs. Folk's Weekly Message-October 24, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Thursday, October 24, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Academy Families,

We have had an exciting week at the SMA campus.

I was able to host the 2nd and 3rd Grade Coffee the Principal on Tuesday. Thanks to the parents who came to meet with me and enjoy a cup of coffee and some bagels.

The STUCO canned food drive ended today. Thanks to everyone who helped the two great organizations, St. Michael’s St. Vincent de Paul, Wellston Center and St. Augustine. The winning homeroom for the Golden Can was the 5th Grade. The SMA campus collected over 5100 cans. Thank you to all of the generous parents!

On Wednesday, the SMA campus prayed together the Living Rosary led by the 5th and 2nd Grade class. All of the other grades used their own Rosaries to follow along and pray as a community.

I look forward to seeing the 4th and 5th Grade parents next Tuesday at 7:45am in the Teacher’s Lounge for Coffee with the Principal.

All of the homerooms will be celebrating their Halloween Parties from 2-2:45pm on October 31st. Homeroom parents are helping in each class. I will be providing a snack and drink parties. Thanks to the room moms for helping out.

Next Friday at Mass we will celebrate All Saints Day. After Mass, the 3rd Grade will be giving their Saint Presentations in Church. All are welcome to celebrate Mass with us (Holy Day of Obligation) and learn about our Saints that pray for us.

Enjoy your long weekend!!!

I feel blessed to be part of this community.

God Bless!

Mrs. Karen Folk

The Bookfair will run from November 3rd - 7th. The students will have a chance to purchase during lunch on November 5th and 6th. Parents can purchase during Conferences on November 7th and online. The teachers will have a book “wish list” for their classrooms for parents to purchase. Please support your child’s teachers. More information will be sent soon. All proceeds go to the SMA Library. Thanks for your help!!!!

Volunteer Sign up for Book Fair for beginning November 3rd

Our school’s annual book fair is almost here! We are still in need of volunteers to make our fair successful. Please see the sign up genius to take a shift if you can. The times listed are suggested - please don’t worry if you can’t make it the entire time, or feel free to stay longer! Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you, Kenda Bacott!

Have a spooky good time, from HCA administration.

Uniform Reminders

Winter Uniform will start next Friday, November 1st. Please review the winter uniform policy.

  • Now that it is getting cooler, make sure your student has a uniform sweatshirt to wear to school. The options available are the HCA logo sweatshirts or fleece or a navy cardigan sweater. Non-uniform sweatshirts may be worn for recess.

  • Socks should be white, navy, or black only. Logos on socks are acceptable, but prominent stripes and socks of other colors are not allowed.

Throughout the school year, parents are invited to a “Coffee with the Principal.” This is a time for parents to come enjoy coffee and bagels and to talk about any questions, concerns, or just to check in. Parents may attend the Coffee with the Principal when their child’s grade is assigned in the Teacher’s Lounge at 7:45 am. I hope you can join us.

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, we will celebrate the Holy Cross Academy Legacy Gala and Auction. Proceeds are used to invest in the future of Holy Cross Academy by enhancing the learning environment and giving our students the best resources available in the ever-changing world of modern education. We are asking our HCA community to come together in support of the 2019 Auction. There are so many ways in which you can help and all of us here at HCA have something special to give. We offer tax-deductible sponsorship opportunities and we are always looking for donated items for our Live and Silent Auctions. Please feel free to email legacygala@hca-stl.org or call Chasley Bradbury-Flores at 314.249.1307 with any questions.
