Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-October 4, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, October 04, 2019

Dear HCA-OLP Families,

Fall has arrived, bringing with it a new season for our Stanley Cup champions, Cardinals playoff baseball, and cooler weather (finally!). I hope you are all able to enjoy these things together with your families this weekend!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Providence Fest

Our Lady of Providence Parish will be celebrating Providence Fest on October 11 & 12. Please come out for a fun time for the whole family! You don’t have to be OLP parishioners to come. For more information, go to http://www.providencefest.com/.

Additional Vision Screening

On October 8, additional vision screening for 2nd and 4th graders at OLP will be done by Dr. Radakovic of Webster Eye Care. It involves 4 tests. In Dr. Radakovic's clinical experience, those four tests identify the most vision-related learning disabilities.

1. Visual acuity- a child's clarity of vision

2. Eye teaming skills- a child's ability to efficiently converge their eyes for reading and maintain that convergence

3. Depth perception- a child's ability to see life in 3 dimensions

4. Ocular motor skills- a child's ability to efficiently follow print across a page.

No permission slip or payment is required for this screening, but you may request to opt out if you would like. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your child participating in this screening.

End of Fourth Quarter

The first quarter will end on Thursday, October 24. On Friday, October 11, online gradebook viewing will be closed for parent viewing to allow teachers to begin preparing report cards in our online system. Report cards will be available online on Friday, November 1 at 3:30 p.m.

Uniform Reminders

Our uniform is a visual reminder for our students of our Catholic identity in our school. It is important that our uniform rules are followed respectfully. For the most part, this is going smoothly, but I would like to ask you to pay attention to a few details.

  • Now that it is getting cooler, make sure your student has a uniform sweatshirt to wear to school. The options available are the HCA logo sweatshirt or fleece or a navy cardigan sweater. Non-uniform sweatshirts may be worn for recess only. For information on ordering

  • Socks should be white, navy, or black only. Logos on socks are acceptable, but prominent stripes and socks of other colors are not allowed.

  • The only jewelry permitted are religious medals, watches/fitbits, and post earrings which do not fall below the earlobe.

November Lunch Orders

November lunches are now available for pre ordering until midnight on Friday, October 18th. After you order, please send in your lunch money owed to your school office. Order now so you don’t forget!
