Mrs. Dolan's Weekly Message-September 13, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, September 13, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Families, September 13, 2019

Art teacher Greg Sullentrup, along with eighth grade students Eva F., Lucy S., and Isabelle K., represented Holy Cross Academy at the St. Louis Art Fair in Clayton. For the second year in a row, HCA is one of thirteen schools chosen for this program. The idea behind the Art Aficionados is for students to participate in a hands-on buying program through the St. Louis Art Fair. Each participating school is given $750 to purchase art for their own campus and $750 for a traveling art exhibit. Also on the Art Aficionado committee was Lilly S., Anna M., and Nora C. All committee members were instrumental in researching, calculating, examining, discussing and formulating plans for purchasing art before the weekend of the Fair.

As I write this newsletter I am looking forward to our All Academy Mass and Retreat! It is amazing and overwhelming to see the hundreds of Holy Cross Academy students worshipping and building community together. Planned by the HCA Teacher Spirituality Committee the students will celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and enjoy activities both by grade level and multi-grade levels.

West County Psychological Associates Newsletters (WCPA): I encourage all parents to regularly read the WCPA’s monthly newsletters. If you are not familiar with them, they offer support and guidance on a multitude of topics for students and families. Click on Newsletter and all archived issues are available.

Iowa Assessments September 16-19. The best way to prepare your children is to be sure they are rested and have a good breakfast. The students should also bring a healthy, nut free snack for the morning and their water bottles.

The Blue and Gold Rush, HCA's annual online raffle, went live on Thursday, August 29, and runs through Thursday, September 19. Tickets are $25 each or five for $100. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 20. Thanks in advance for your generous support of the Blue and Gold Raffle

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, we will celebrate the Holy Cross Academy Legacy Gala and Auction. Proceeds are used to invest in the future of Holy Cross Academy by enhancing the learning environment and giving our students the best resources available in the ever-changing world of modern education. We are asking our HCA community to come together in support of the 2019 Auction. There are so many ways in which you can help and all of us here at HCA have something special to give. We offer tax-deductible sponsorship opportunities and we are always looking for donated items for our Live and Silent Auctions. Please feel free to email legacygala@hca-stl.org or call Chasley Bradbury-Flores at 314.249.1307 with any questions.
