Holy Cross Academy - St. John Paul II

Bulletin for the Week of September 1, 2019

On Saturday, November 16, we will celebrate the Holy Cross Academy Legacy Gala and Auction. Proceeds are used to invest in the future of Holy Cross Academy by enhancing the learning environment and giving our students the best resources available in the ever-changing world of modern education. We are asking our HCA community to come together in support of the 2019 Auction. There are so many ways in which you can help and all of us here at HCA have something special to give. We offer tax-deductible sponsorship opportunities and we are always looking for donated items for our Live and Silent Auction. To volunteer or donate please email legacygala@hca-stl.org.

The Blue and Gold Rush, HCA's annual online raffle, went live on Thursday, August 29, and runs through Thursday, September 19. Tickets are $25 each or five for $100. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 20. Thanks in advance for your generous support of the Blue and Gold Raffle.

Our first spirit day of the new year will be on September 5. There is a change regarding spirit day dress guidelines for this year. Students may wear regular uniform bottoms or gym uniform bottoms with their HCA spirit shirts. They can wear their choice, regardless of whether or not they have PE on that day.

Yellow health forms for all students should have been filled out and turned in to the office. Also, any new students and all students in kindergarten and 3rd grade need to have a physical and an immunization record turned in. Having this paperwork helps us to be attuned to the medical needs of each student so that we can keep everyone safe and healthy.

Counselor, Michelle Siroko, from Saint Louis Counseling (formerly Catholic Family Services) will be here at the JP2 campus on Wednesdays again this year. If you are interested in your child meeting with her, please contact Dr. D. or your child’s teacher and we can send home the necessary paperwork.

Now is a good time to make sure you have all you need for school uniforms. Please check the updated HCA Parent & Student Handbook or the HCA website for detailed information about school uniforms. Click the following link to take you there directly: HCA Parent and Student Handbook .

Thanks go to the South Side Optimist Club of St. Louis for donating dictionaries to all of our third graders! The Optimists have been doing this every year since 2006.

During the weeks of September 1 and September 8, we will begin practicing emergency drills, including fire, tornado, earthquake and intruder drills. We emphasize that these are just drills, but if your child seems over concerned about any of these drills, please let us know.

Congratulations to the following students who got "Shout Outs" this week: Danovan Destin (5th), Owen Carr (5th), Finn Lyndon (4th), Ethan Kiley (4th), Anna Morris (4th), Jack Corbett (3rd), Patrick McDaniel (3rd), Connor Dooley (2nd), Jordan Tinker (2nd), Boston Tomiser (2nd), Nina Westerheide (2nd), Maddie Ehnert (1st), Drew McDaniel (1st), Lucas Armentrout (K) and Maxine Stavron (K).
