Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-March 1, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, March 01, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Families,

I hope all of you stayed safe on our icy day yesterday. It’s hard to believe that it is March with the winter weather we are still having. Hopefully spring weather is right around the corner.

I hope all of you enjoy this weekend with your families! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if there is any way I may be of help!

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Ash Wednesday

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. As at any school Masses, parents are welcome to join us for Mass at 8:00.

Spirit Day

This Thursday is Spirit Day. Students may wear Holy Cross spirit wear together with their uniform bottoms. Because this is a day to celebrate our unity as a Holy Cross community, students are only allowed to wear Holy Cross Academy spirit wear, not spirit wear from the individual parishes.

Dairy Queen Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Dairy Queen fundraiser this past Monday. Money raised that evening will go to support our school.

Kids Heart Challenge

Thank you to everyone who donated to the American Heart Association. Due to the cancellation of the All Academy Mass, the Kids Heart Challenge has been rescheduled for this coming week. At OLP, it will be held the morning of Friday, March 8. Thank you for your support, patience and generosity.

Cold and Flu Season

We are continuing to see cases of cold/flu here at the OLP campus. We are doing as much as possible within the schools to safeguard our classrooms by wiping down desks, tables, doorknobs, etc. and encouraging hand washing. We are also asking for your help to prevent the spread of illness. If your child shows any symptoms of upper respiratory illnesses (ie. runny nose, cough, sneezing, and especially fever), they need to be kept at home until fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medications. Thank you as always for your support. Let’s continue working together to keep Holy Cross Academy schools safe and healthy!

NCADA Lessons

Today was our final visit from Beth Riegert, a prevention educator from the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse - St. Louis area (NCADA). This wonderful program is available to our school at no cost, thanks to the Children’s Services Fund. There is a total of four lessons with each K-5 class at OLP. In the lower grades, they discuss friendship and feelings, and grades four and five cover topics such as respect, tolerance, empathy, and responsibility/accountability. Please contact me if you would like more information about this program.
