Mrs. Folk's Weekly Message-March 1, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, March 01, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Academy Families,
Thank you to our Principals for the Day to give the entire Academy a Dress Down Day on Monday. I know all of the students, staff, and faculty really enjoyed wearing comfy clothes for the day.
The SMA 5th grade enjoyed their shadow day on Tuesday at Annunciation. Many of them were nervous but by the end day they all seemed ready for Middle School. I just told them they still have 3 months at our campus.
The entire campus participated in a fire drill on Wednesday. They were out of the building and accounted for in line in 1 minute 30 seconds. Thanks to Ms. Mahfood for leading the school during the fire drill. Great Job everyone!!!
We celebrated Mass together with special guests from the Knights of Columbus. The winner of the poster contests for Keeping Christ in Christmas were the following students at Holy Cross Academy - St. Michael’s Campus.
Kindergarten - Corinne Hufford
2nd Grade - Riley Guller
3rd Grade - Katie Cook
4th Grade - Maeve Moeller

Each student was presented a certificate and cash prize. All of their posters will be sent to the State Poster Competition. Congratulations to all of the winners and participates!!!

We also celebrated Dr. Suess’ Birthday with Read Across America. I went to every classroom dressed up as Cat in the Hat and read the class either Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham. I had so much fun with the students.

At the end of the day, all the classes celebrated the end of ordinary Church time and the beginning of Lent with Mardi Gras classroom parties. Everyone had a great time.

Next week starts Lent with Ash Wednesday. We will be celebrating Mass as a campus at 8:00am. This time of year is important to our faith, through prayer, penance, and alms giving.

I think we are going to have more winter weather this weekend. Everyone be safe. Hopefully being in March we will see spring soon. Remember the old phrase for March, in like a lion out like a lamb. I hope this is true.

God Bless,
Mrs. Karen Folk

Donations Needed:
Each year the 8th grade students in the Archdiocese gather for Regional Masses. Starting last year the schools in Region 5 decided to make getting together a more meaningful experience. The students not only attend Mass, they work on a service project and have lunch together. In keeping with the 200 Year Anniversary of the St. Louis Archdiocese, the students will be making 200 personal care item bags for the homeless. Each school brings 200 of their assigned item, and this year HCA has been asked to bring deodorant. Students on all campuses are welcome to participate and they may bring the deodorant to their home campus office. Please have deodorant donations to office by March 15th. The donations will be taken to Annunciation. Thanks for your support.
HCA Registration
Registration forms turned in after March 1st will be charged $200. Please send in your forms to the office as soon as possible if you haven’t done so already.
