Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-February 1, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, February 01, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Families,

As Catholic Schools Week draws to a close, I feel so blessed to be a part of the Holy Cross Academy community. I am thankful for our wonderful teachers and support staff, who work so hard to provide the best possible education to each individual student. I am thankful for our students, who make me smile every day. I am thankful for the support of our parish and of Fr. Schilli and the pastors of the other parishes, and I am thankful for the parents, who work hard and make sacrifices to send their children to Catholic school. Big thanks also go to all of the parent volunteers who help out here in various ways - on HCPA, as recess and lunch volunteers, as Open House tour guides, and in many other ways.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Spirit Wear Day This Thursday

Thursday, February 7 is Holy Cross Academy Spirit Day. Students may wear any HCA spirit wear shirt with their uniform bottoms. As this is a day to celebrate the entire HCA community, only HCA shirts may be worn. Students are not allowed to wear OLP parish shirts on HCA spirit days. Even at our campus, we have students from multiple parishes.

Open House and Special Masses

Our Open House last weekend was a success! In addition to many current families who came to see the classrooms, we also had a number of new families come look at our school, many of whom were excited to check out the preschool classrooms. It is great to see our school growing into the future. Thank you very much to all of the parent volunteers who helped give tours and sell the school!

Also, thank you to the students who helped with the different ministries at mass last weekend. They were supposed to have a special dress-down day on Thursday, which was a snow day. Instead, their special dress-down day will be next Monday, February 4.

Today and Tomorrow Scholarships

All families are invited to apply online for scholarships from the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation. There are scholarships available for low and middle income families. The application period began January 28 at 8:00am, and some scholarships are first come, first served, so if you have not already done so, please apply right away! Go to ttef-stl.org to apply. Families who have applied in previous years should reuse the same login information. The deadline for families renewing a scholarship is February 28. More information is available at http://www.ttef-stl.org/info-for-parents/. Please let us know if you need help navigating the website and getting the application filled out. We would be happy to help!

Teacher Appreciation Lunch Rescheduled

The teacher appreciation lunch that was originally scheduled for Thursday (our snow day) has been rescheduled for this Tuesday, February 5. We are grateful to the parents who had volunteered to come cover classrooms, but we know that it would be difficult for these parents to reschedule for a new day, so we are not asking for volunteers for the new day.

Middle School Open House

Attention fifth-grade parents! Believe it or not, it is time to begin thinking about your child transitioning to our HCA Annunciation campus. Monday, February 4 is Middle School Information Night in the ANN cafeteria at 6:30. This meeting is for parents only and is open to all of our present HCA parents and parents outside of HCA looking for a new school. If you know of anyone in your family or neighborhood looking for a middle school experience, bring them along! You will have the opportunity to learn about our program and hear from all of the teachers and a few students.

Middle School Shadow Day

This Tuesday, OLP fifth graders will have their turn to go to the middle school campus for the day. Fifth graders should be dropped off an the Annunciation campus and picked up there at the end of the school day. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the students to see their future campus, meet the teachers, and find out more about what the middle school experience will be like.
