Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-January 25, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, January 25, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Families,

There are two time-sensitive things I want to make sure all parents are aware of: First, we are very excited about our Open House this Sunday, 11:00-1:00. The classrooms have been cleaned and decorated and the teachers and students are excited to show them off! Please come check it out if you are able to, and invite your friends and neighbors who are looking for a school!

Second, Monday, January 28 at 8:00am, the online application period begins for the scholarships offered by the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation. This is a group that provides money to Catholic and non-Catholic, low and middle income families to help pay for Catholic school. Some of these scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so I encourage you to apply on Monday if you can. You can apply and get more information at ttef-stl.org. For families who have applied before, you should use the same email address to apply. If you have forgotten your password, it can be reset.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Expanding Preschool Program

We are excited to announce that we are opening a 2-year-old classroom at OLP starting in the fall of 2019. Also, we will offer a year-round early education program starting in the summer of 2020. More details can be found in a letter that is included in your family’s registration folder that is going home today.

Open House and Special Masses

This weekend, we will be highlighting HCA at masses at all five parishes. Please have your child(ren) wear their Holy Cross Academy uniform to mass. We would love to have 100% representation of our student body. Open House will be 11:00-1:00 on Sunday. We hope you can come, and maybe bring a friend!

Student Volunteers Needed for Mass January 26-27

To celebrate Catholic Schools Week with our parish families, students and their families are invited to assist with the ministries at Mass the weekend of January 27. Students who volunteer will get a dress down day on Thursday, January 31! Those who are attending Mass but not assisting are still encouraged to wear their school uniforms to Mass to show their school pride!

Students can serve as greeters, carrying the offertory procession, passing the collection baskets, and distributing bulletins. If your child would like to serve, but you're not sure what would be the best fit, please contact your parish volunteer coordinator and we'll find something for everyone!

These special liturgies offer a great opportunity for our fellow parishioners to see school families in the community and build a stronger relationship between the parishes and the school, and also gives the students a chance to take on leadership roles they typically see fulfilled by adults and feel more included in the Mass. Students who volunteer will be asked to arrive at Mass 30 minutes early to practice.

Today and Tomorrow Scholarships

All families are invited to apply online for scholarships from the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation. There are scholarships available for low and middle income families. The application period will begin January 28 at 8:00am, and some scholarships are first come, first served, so please apply right away! Go to ttef-stl.org to apply. Families who have applied in previous years should reuse the same login information. The deadline for families renewing a scholarship is February 28. More information is available at http://www.ttef-stl.org/info-for-parents/.

Volunteers Needed for Teacher Appreciation Lunch

As part of Catholic Schools Week, we will have a teacher appreciation lunch on January 31st. All the teachers’ recess and lunch duties will be covered by parent volunteers so they can enjoy a lunch from the HCPA together. Here is a chance to show your appreciation for our wonderful teachers! We still need volunteers, especially for the preschool classrooms. Click here to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F4DACAD2FAAF94-olpcampus

February Lunch Orders

Today, January 25 is the last day to order February lunches. Also, remember that a milk is included with a lunch order, so you do not have to order milk separately on days when the student is buying lunch.

Coat Drive

Thanks to all who participated and contributed to the Holy Cross Academy Saint Vincent DePaul 7th grade winter coat drive. The coat drive was a rousing success collecting over 190 coats, plus some scarves and gloves which were taken to Saint Vincent DePaul in the city and the Afton Food Pantry to be distributed to those in need. The timing was perfect as the cold snowy weather set in right as we began collecting and distributing the coats. Thanks to everybody so much for your generosity and congratulations to our Holy Cross Academy Saint Vincent DePaul 7th graders for a successful winter coat drive and for your service to the community.
