Mrs. Koberlein's Weekly Message-January 11, 2019

Submitted to All Campuses on Friday, January 11, 2019

Dear Holy Cross Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you safe and warm on this snowy day! Thank you very much to all of the families who normally use our aftercare for your flexibility in arranging to pick up your children at dismissal time today. It is much appreciated, and we will be glad to know that the children are all safely out of the storm.

I hope that all of you have a safe and fun snowy weekend! As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

In God’s Peace,

Mrs. Katie Koberlein

Principal, Our Lady of Providence Campus

Kindergarten Information Night

Parents of children who will be entering kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year are invited to join us to find out more about the Holy Cross program. You will get a chance to learn about our program, meet the teachers, find out about financial aid opportunities, and enjoy some refreshments. Also, children are welcome, and some fun kindergarten activities will be available for them.

Student Volunteers Needed for Mass January 26-27

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week, HCA students are invited to help with ministries at mass the weekend of January 26-27. We will need OLP parishioner students (including those who attend school at OLP or ANN) to help out with readings, as greeters, with offertory, passing the baskets, and handing out bulletins at 4:30pm mass on Saturday and 8:30am and 11:00am masses on Sunday. Please contact Pat Mueth at pmueth@hca-stl.org if you are interested.

BSA Troop for Girls at Seven Holy Founders

The Boy Scouts of America recently changed their rules to allow girls between 11 and 17 to join the scouting program and work to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Seven Holy Founders is forming a girls’ troop and any girls from the area are welcome to join! To find out more, come to the organizational meeting Monday, January 21 at 7:30pm in the SHF Parish Hall or contact Scoutmaster Anne Parker (314)963-3154.

Today and Tomorrow Scholarships

All families are invited to apply online for scholarships from the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation. There are scholarships available for low and middle income families. The application period will begin January 28 at 8:00am, and some scholarships are first come, first served, so please apply right away! Go to ttef-stl.org to apply. Families who have applied in previous years should reuse the same login information. The deadline for families renewing a scholarship is February 28. More information is available at http://www.ttef-stl.org/info-for-parents/.

Catholic Schools Week Shirt Orders Due Today

Today is the last day to order a Catholic Schools Week shirt. These shirts can be worn during Catholic Schools Week and on other spirit days. When you order, please note the child’s name, campus, and homeroom teacher for easy delivery. The shirts will be delivered at school and sent home with the students. Click here to order.

Volunteers Needed for Teacher Appreciation Lunch

As part of Catholic Schools Week, we will have a teacher appreciation lunch on January 31st. All the teachers’ recess and lunch duties will be covered by parent volunteers so they can enjoy a lunch from the HCPA together. Here is a chance to show your appreciation for our wonderful teachers! February Lunch Orders

Online ordering for February lunches is now open. Orders must be placed by January 25. Order now so you don’t forget! Also, remember that a milk is included with a lunch order, so you do not have to order milk separately on days when the student is buying lunch.

Coat Drive

Did you get a new coat for Christmas? This year the St. Vincent de Paul Mini-Vinnies have decided to conduct a New or Used Winter Coat Drive for their 2019 HCA SvDP Service Project. The new or used coat drive will be conducted from Monday, January 7, 2019 until Friday, January 18, 2019. Please help keep others warm this winter!

Mardi Gras/Valentine’s Day Party Change

The HCPA has decided to cancel the class parties that were to be held on February 14th. In lieu of the party, the students will do a Valentine exchange in the classroom with their teachers and classmates. The HCPA will instead sponsor a Mardi Gras Party for grades K-5. At OLP, these parties will be on Friday, March 1, 2:00pm - 2:45pm. This change does not affect preschool. They will have an Easter Egg Hunt instead.
